Captain's Log
Read between the lines and the story is not so blurry anymore. The story involves many twists and turns and leads one to an ending open to interpretation. Someone reads it one way, someone else reads it another way. Both ways are right and both ways are wrong, which is the beauty of it all, right? Storytellers have this profound effect on people who read or listen to their stories. Sometimes it does not even take words to read between the lines. A simple symbol can make one draw his or her conclusions. How symbolic.

Cigarettes
It has been 5 days since my last one. I'm not going terribly nuts, though one would be very nice right now. Have not had caffeine either for a week. I am eating more lately. Now if I could just find someone, I mean, some time to exercise. Zip it. Need a bucket? I'd eat her like a bowl of dog food. Call the cable guy. Jiggle the handle.

Cooking it up
Got lost in the hills on Friday night. But it was fun trying to find the right way to the final destination unknown. Darkness of night and bitter cold to the bone. Stopped upon two Clydesdales. Did not take their picture. Damn. Later on, at 6 a.m., I watched "Hurly Burly." I saw that flick with the Movie Club of Roswell so long ago when I was single just like these days. Only then I was ... well, "recreational" just like eccentric Eddie in the movie. ... Outside the window right now, it looks loverly with sunshine. Step outside, though, and it's cold as the Arctic chilling your hot cocoa.

Dreamscape
I dreamed you last night, and all the merriment and grandeur of what we could have been swept us away like a midwest twister; a twister of happiness and laughter, and love; at the epicenter of which two young friends are lovers as well, and who are chained at the soul as they embark on spiritual bike rides through the pea patch only they could find. I have not slept that well in so long. Instead of feeling like a frozen perogie thirsty for boiling water, I woke up refreshed and crisp like peppermint gum. Every day of silence pulls us farther apart. But at least I can dream of those happy-in-love moments we never took the time to explore.

Martin Luther King Jr.
On this day of observance, what would his message be in 2004? Would he still be central figure to the cause? Would he have run for President of the United States? Happy Birthday, Michael.
